Denver....here we come!!

Last night we finally did it! Colin and I booked a flight to Denver, Colorado to visit our friends Scott and Alison Nickell. We absolutely love these two and can't wait to spend a few days with them out west. I also like it when we plan a trip months in advance so I can think about it and get excited about it as our departure date creeps closer. :)

LovE MY JoB!

I find myself so blessed to be doing what I feel God made me to do. Each day I get to go to a place where I work with good friends, love on sweet kids, and ultimately teach the future (scary for those of you who know me, but they are Kindergartners....don't need too many math skills). I adore each little face that comes in to my room and the story that God is writing in their lives. I am so lucky to be a tiny piece in their big lives. Here are the lovely ladies I work with each day. Go Jackholes!!!

C-A-T-S Cats! Cats! Cats!

Jess and Richie invited me and Colin to the UK basketball game last night. We had an absolute blast with those two. We started off up in the nosebleed section, and at about halftime we moved down to about 10 rows from the floor. (Jess' Uncle works at Rupp and hooked us up). The best part of the night was our photo op with Scratch and The Cat! Check out these cute pics.......what a fun night.

Best Restaurant EVER!

If you know me well, you already know what I am going to tell you. Winchell's is hands down the best restaurant in town. My mom, dad, Colin, and I went there this morning for breakfast. You can go any time of day and enjoy anything on the menu. This morning they made me a veggie omelet....it was to die for. Colin has his favorites...as long as it is fried and has a ton of gravy to poor on top he his a happy camper. I love the atmosphere, I love the food, and I especially love the service. If you are looking for a new place to eat...try Winchell's. See their website below.

HaPpY ThAnKsGiViNg

Yeah! I am taking a break from frying turkey's to come and make my Thanksgiving Day post! I forgot to mention before that Colin is not the only person who has perfected the turkey frying process.....my dear brother Mac has also been a huge asset. We got together last night and seasoned our turkey's and right now they are devoted temperature checkers and time keepers....the turkey's will be perfect! Not much time to write, just so thankful to be alive and share this time with family and friends!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Christmas Ideas

You must check out this sweet little website! I am dying to order something, but get nervous when I get down to the measuring part (I teach Kindergarten, don't do much measuring!) You can find these cute expressions at Two Chicks and Company here in town.

Here is another cute idea. I bought these for the two families in my Lifegroup. I am proud of myself for not being selfish and ordering one for me....I tend to do that.

Cleaning

So today is the big cleaning day I mentioned in the above blog...and I just can't get motivated to open my closet of cleaning supplies and put them to good use. I have to admit it was so nice to sleep in past 5:30 this morning....especially with that rain! Right now my sweet dog and I are spending some quality time together, both avoiding the dreaded house that needs to be cleaned. Did I mention I needed to clean?
I am excited right now because my friend Jess just came back home for a weeks trip in N. Ireland. She has brought back one of her closest friends (wink, wink) and we are all planning on getting lunch together. (Me, Richie, Jess, & Jane are pictured above) Sooooo, should I lay low until lunch and start the scrub down at that point or start cleaning now....decisions, decisions.....

I am very excited about why I have to clean my house, I absolutly love having everyone over in the same house together. It is going to be a blast. I Hope that you also have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!! Talk to you soon. Emmers

Thanksgiving Fun

My first blog......I have no idea what I am doing so please be patient :)

Colin and I are hosting our third Thanksgiving this Thursday. It all starts with my house getting a good scrub on Wednesday, thankfully we are out of school and I can spend some quality time with my vacuum and endust.
On Thursday, we wake up early in the morning, my brother (and his girlfriend, Whitney) come over and we start the Thanksgiving Day process. This is a huge ordeal that usually begins with frying twinkies. (If you have not tried it, here is how: http://www.wchstv.com/gmarecipes/deepfriedtwinkies.shtml). This year we are adding another dessert to the frying menu....snickers bars wrapped in pie crust, I think it sounds disgusting but my husband and brother insisted. I for one am not going there. After we finish frying sweets, we begin with the first bird. It is truly an art that my husband religiously follows every year. He must be doing something right because every year we hardly have any turkey left.
At around 12:30 both sides of our family begin arriving. Everyone brings a side dish or two, a dessert or two, and a healthy appetite. It is such an incredible time with our families. I cherish our family tradition. This year I have decorated my table with all Christmas themed items. It was purely unintentional and I know I am jumping ahead...but it looks too cute. I will try and get a picture and post it.
I hope that you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday :)
